Obviously she is over 18!

I ran over to the store today to get some Delsym, mom would be so proud, so after I scaned the item in the self check out the person has to come over and approve my purchase. He is training someone new and is showing a cute older lady what to do and he says, well she is obviously over 18 so it is not a problem! Yeah I am over 18, but the way he said it was like dude she is obviously OLD, so don't worry about carding her! Good thing I am obviously over 18, now I have my cough syrup. As I was leaving the guy said to have a good night with my cough syrup! What a jackass!

TURN IT IN. COM

One of my teachers requires that every assignment that we have for her class be turned into this website turnitin.com, to check for originality. After submitting your paper you wait and hope and pray that the number is low and that you won't fail. I did it last semester, and was so convinced that I was going to fail that I even called to warn my parents. This semester I have her for 2 classes! One of them we only have one assignment that will be turned into this damn thing, but for the other I will have to turn in 13 article reveiws to the website. I have already turned in 2 of the 13 and let me just say, I think it is a load of crap! The first one I did was 37% plagerism according to the website, while the second was only 15%. Umm.. problem is that she doesn't care if it is coming from other kids at UVSC just if it is from like Penn State, or University of Colorado? What the hell difference like I know how to find, copy and paste stuff from some random kids paper in Colorado, or Virgina or Texas! This website is crap, and the fact that I am forced to use it for the rest of the semester sucks! I just want to pass so that I can graduate and be done with school, and teachers who find websites like this!

Could it be??? TB? Legionnaires Disease??

Because Romina asked for it to be posted! This is more of the conversation that I had this morning with my mom! While talking to her, we discussed the fact that Romina had been sick and maybe I was coming down with something. Well then we somehow got on to the topic of TB and Legionnaires Disease. The conversation ended with her telling me I would be fine just to go buy some Delsym (it is her wonder drug of choice at the moment)! But before we got off the phone she said that Romina should get checked out just to make sure she is ok! Tonight while we were having dinner I retold the story of the phone call! Romina and I had a good laugh and that was the end, hopefully the Delsym works, because I will be purchasing a bottle first thing in the morning!

Career Fair!

At school today there was a Career and Internship Fair!!! That means free pens and really cool other stuff! Today was no exception, I went with my friend Brad and we got a ton of great stuff, pens, calculator, water bottle, bandaids, mints, oh and a few stickers! Brad would act interested and then the people would basically throw the loot at us! My favorite booth was the IKEA people who were there trying to recruit for their new store in Draper! They were telling us how great the hours, and benefits are but all I wanted to know was the kind of discount I could get if I was an employee! 15% needless to say I am seriously contemplating putting in an application! Just to get the discount would be worth it to me! Well other than that today was a crappy day, I had a quiz but for some reason did not remember about it, so needless to say I will be dropping this one. I missed a class and then suffered through a class with a teacher that admitted to not knowing the material, understanding the book, or remembering what he had put on the test. His test review was pointless, I can read my own book!

Is it pneumonia???

I have not been sick for awhile, there was a time when it seemed like I was sick every single day! However I think I am now getting sick! I had one of the worst nights trying to sleep, and today I almost ripped out my lung. I called my mom this morning who basically said to go buy some cough syrup and to "Buck up little camper"! Tonight I had the privlage of going out again and putting up more flyers for a ward activity, oh so much fun! I guess after I left the meeting on Sunday they decided they wanted to make a flyer each week of upcoming activities! If I do not end up with pneumonia by the end of the winter it will be amazing! I have included the symptoms of pneumonia, just so I can check them off as I get them! ;) I will keep everyone updated!
Cough, Fever, Shaking, "teeth-chattering" chills (one time only or many times).
Fast, often shallow, breathing and the feeling of being short of breath.
Chest wall pain that is often made worse by coughing or breathing in.
Fast heartbeat. Feeling very tired (fatigue) or feeling very weak (malaise).

Oh Really?? Don't go to school drunk!

OH MY FREAKING GOSH! Today was one of the longest and most annoying days in all my years of school. I am taking this statistics class that is a requirement for graduation and I am forced to do it. Well there is a guy in the class who we will call "Drunk Man"! This morning drunk man was out of control. He always has things to say, but usually it is only one or two a class period and then he is quiet. NOT TODAY!!! From the get go drunk man had obviously had a little too much liquor over the weekend. He actually hinted to this fact when someone said you just had to hammer out the problem and he said, "Oh I was hammered all weekend!" Umm.. no way you WERE? I think he STILL was! He was on a roll the whole class period, questioning how the teacher did something and then following it up with "Really???" Yes really idiot how hard is it!!!! By the end of the class our teacher was so done dealing with him. Oh and if it wasn't him it was the lady who supplied the "quote of the century" and who applied make-up to look like umm I hope a geisha! When there was a break from him talking it was her wanting to know what a square root is??? Umm.. who cares, it is a button on the caluclator that you push to find the answer! I seriously am failing at the goal to be patient this year! I am all for asking questions that are relevant but trying to figure out a calculator is not something to ask, especially if you don't even have a calculator with you! As soon as class was over I almost ran to the door to get out of there! It is days like this that I really think maybe I need to bring ear plugs to class! Maybe next time I will just listen to my ipod on the backrow!

Box-Out Demostration

Here is Jerilyn and Megan demonstrating the proper technique for boxing out!

Dangerous Sport and randomness

The chili cook off and broom hockey was a lot of fun! Jerilyn really enjoyed the frozen punch that had been sitting on Michelle and Kimberly's front porch for a couple days!

Broom hockey can be a dangerous sport, there was a time when I thought maybe someone was going to loose their head or legs, blood was even drawn and brooms were broken. Look at the form that we all have, man I should become a professional. No worries I think the ball had just left my broom for a score ;)

After the game was over we all picked up the broom fragments so as to not clog the vaccum. After the collecting was done Jerilyn and I decided what better thing to do then smoke the "weeds", no worries they did not touch our mouths. We know what a broom is used for unlike one of the guys who stuck a piece straight from the floor into his mouth like a piece of straw! YUCK!!!

Box out and other basketball fun

On Thursday night there was a sports enrichment night, we learned about basketball and well it was a very interesting night! One of the girls in the ward taught the class and well she umm knows her stuff. I am so excited to sit at home and watch basketball all day and night now! ;) Funny thing is that Friday night was the broom-hockey and chili cook-off, and Jerilyn showed the proper technique for boxing out. Stick your butt out and use your God given gift. There is a video of her demonstrating which will be posted very soon! BUT, until then here are a few pictures of the proper way to box out!

Group Presentations

I hate group projects, Either you have a good group and can just sit back and relax, or end up doing ALL the work! Lucky for me this semester so far my groups have been the good ones. I only had to collect everyones info and put together the powerpoint for it. I also was one of the presenters for our group but again no big deal, I can BS my way through a couple minutes about France. The presentation was only supposed to be 20mins long, I think ours was about 25 at the most. The group after us talked for almost an hour! Oh my HECK! I now know more about Germany than people who live there! Today the group that went took about 15minutes! They are the smart ones, get it done quick and sit down. It is like the saying K.I.S.S. which equals Keep It Simple Stupid! They did a great job reporting China, however before the class started one of the members made a stop in the bathrooom and painted her face. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with a little make-up, I am trying to be better about applying more often. BUT, what happened today would be like me spending an hour applying blush, and powder that is way too pale for my skin. We thought that maybe she was trying to be a Geisha, which could be the case! For her sake I really hope that is what she was going for! If it was she is so good at applying. On a lighter note, a certain someone was wearing a nice shirt today and was cracking jokes the whole time! His is so handsome when he laughs!!=)

You are important

Alright so today was interesting! I had class and then after went to Fed-ex kinkos to make some copies of a flyer for a ward activity this Friday. Then tonight Kimberly came over to help me pass them all out. We were able to delegate some of the other apartment buildings to a couple of guys in the ward. I will be baking each of them some cookies now! Kim was so nice to help me tape them to all the doors, even in the 14* weather! I owe her big time maybe some cookies made with splenda??!!! Humm, I will have to think about that one. It was really cold, BUT no worries I actually wore my winter coat tonight, mainly because I knew it was gonna be buttcold and I had just gone to the gym so I didn't want to freeze from the sweat. ;) While we were passing them out Kim ran into one of the guys in the ward whose name she got, and then he says, "yeah your name is Kim right? I remember you because you are pretty important in the ward!" Yep, that is right she is pretty important in the ward. It is the Bishop then Kimberly! ;) Oh man she is so cool! I am so glad she is my friend! So yeah, the flyers are all out and hopefully it will be a good turnout for the chili cook-off and broom hockey on Friday night! I sure am excited! An update on the running, I did a 1 1/2 on the treadmill tonight, actually was not too bad, but I think I like running the track better.

It is hard to believe that 2 years ago on the 20th of January 2005 my parents came to Indiana to pick me up from my mission! At times it feels like decades ago and at other times, I can still remember the last few days and weeks of my mission! I miss it soooo much! I wish somedays that I could just be back out in Indiana wearing my name tag and not worrying about school, and certain issues. Sometimes I think I would do it again in a heart beat, and then I start to think about the hard times, the times I just wanted to cry and sometimes did. I would not give back any of the hard times, because it is from those experiences that I am the person that I am today! My mission was/is a life changing experience and I am glad that I went! Heck, who knows only one more year and I can go again! hahahaha

Happy Birthday Rachel

Today is my Friend Rachel's 26th birthday! I can remember the first time we met in the good old MTC! She is a great person and has been told lately that she has a great personality, I would have to agree! Plus she has really good taste in Friends, I mean she chose me! ;) Seriously though, Rachel was my Companion in Indiana when I get sent home on medical leave and she was there when I got back! This is a picture of the two of us my last day in the mission before I went to the mission home to sleep for the night! She is smart, hard working and likes to have fun. Oh and most importantly she laughs at my jokes and recognizes how dang funny I am! Rachel I hope that you have a great 26th year and for sure Live it up! You deserve it!

WHAT AM I THINKING???

So I don't know if many people know this but one of my goals for 2007 is to train for a 1/2 marathon! That is 13.1 miles for those who may not know. Well I am thinking that this may be the hardest goal of my entire life! Tonight after FHE Marissa, Jerilyn and I went to the indoor track at BYU. Marissa and I ran/walked a mile and a lap and I have to admit there is A LOT of work to be done, BUT we are gonna make it! By next Monday we are going to be up to 2 miles! Every week, we are adding a mile and hopefully we will make it! Jerilyn is a super star she did 2 miles tonight, she is my hero!
The talk on Sunday went okay I guess, I am not so sure, but it is over and I didn't freak out too much.

What the??? Random thoughts!

Couple different topics I have been thinking about:
*American Idol is back and for the last two nights I have been sitting at home watching people live out their dreams and be crushed! Romina was saying I should try out (she was joking) but it made me think and I do not think I could ever do it for a few different reasons.
#1. I am not that good
#2. I would probably cry my eyes out
#3. I do not have the self-confidence it requires to put myself out there.
#4. I am pretty sure I would throw up!
I think those reasons alone are enough to keep me home, making fun and feeling bad for the people who have the confidence to do it, only to be made fun of and have their hopes and dreams shattered!
*The diet is still going strong, it is odd but I really have not had too many problems with sticking to it! I am still going strong and I actually am enjoying the amounts of apples and bananas I have consumed! I could probably live off bananas and appples and popcorn and be fine! Throw in the occasional salad and some chicken and I am good to go! Maybe the WW point system and I are going to be just fine!
*I recently purchased a love sak (ok actually a Siesta sak), it arrived yesterday and I am sooooo excited! It is still in the stages of fluffing up, this morning when I left for school it was looking a lot better! I will post pictures of the new addition soon! So anyone who wants to come and stay can now have the choice between the bed on stilts or the huge love sak! No more air mattress! Which is a good thing, since I maybe put a hole in the airmatress with my belt last semester! Oh the memories of staying up late working on papers drinking vault and consuming way too much excedrin Migrane! I sure don't miss those days!
*Last topic is sleep! Why exactly can I not go to sleep at a normal hour. I try night after night to go to sleep before 2am, and for some reason I can't. I am going to make an effort to try for a whole week to be asleep by 1am! I will let ya'll know how it goes!

Quote of the Century!

School today was so interesting. In the first class "grandpa" decided to take a simple did anyone honor Martin Luther King, JR. question and turn it in to a discussion about racial issues now a days, people of alternative life-styles, and mixed race couples. He was going off, and at one point talked about being in Alabama two weeks after the march that took place. Talk about dating yourself. I think my teacher has a new idol and Best Friend! They hung out after class for like 20mins shooting the breeze. But, I don't think anything tops what happened in my second class. We watched this movie about Islamic cultures that was kinda disturbing, and after it was over somehow my teacher got on the subject of the vagina monologes. I have no clue what they are about or really anything about them BUT some "mom/grandma" in the class said and I quote, "The Vagina monologes? I have never heard of such a thing! Does the vagina talk?" No joke, oh my goodness we were all trying sooooo hard not to laugh at her. It is forever going to go down in history as the best comment in a classroom setting. Our teacher quickly ended class and let us go, but I think she still was trying to figure out what she said that was so shocking! Oh my freaking goodness, what would I do for comic relief if I didn't go to class! It is because of days like today that I keep waking up in the morning and going to school!
P.S. It was soooo cold today that in the short walk out to my car, I lost feeling in my fingers and I kept checking to make sure my nose was still there! NO MORE COLD!!!!!

FLOOD SAGA CONTINUES!!!!!

Here are some of the pictures from my bathroom after the flood occured. Notice the floor board sitting to the right of the toilet and the big blue beast! I hate the stupid fans! I finally shut them in the bathroom the last few nights because I could not take the noise anymore! The fan is enemy #1!!! STUPID FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!
So on Sunday afternoon I noticed that the wall in our kitchen was getting bubbles and ripples in in and I did not want to even think about the fact that it was going to be another huge project. Well tonight when I got home from class this is what I found! The entire wall ripped out and the damn fan in the front of the house. Now I can sleep in peace, but when in the front of the house, I am not going to be able to hear myself think! Oh and the heater was set to 90freaking degrees when I got home too, I have no clue who put it up that high, but I almost died!

Needless to say that I am so over the whole home construction and having things ripped out, and if one more leak springs up in this apartment and it is going to be freaking condemed.

No School Rules!

Today was great because there was NO school! I am so ready to be done with school, but for some reason I am really thinking about staying out in Utah and getting a nursing degree. I am not so sure about anything really, but I need to be finanlizing things since I am done in April! =/ I went with some friends to see The Pursuit of Happyness, it was a really good movie and I will probably own it when it comes out on DVD. Tonight was FHE, we played Disney Scene it, and I am really not that good at it. I know the new movies but there was some tonight I have never heard of. Whatever, our team was dead last. Kinda sad considering I have probably been to Disneyland 100+ times. So, tomorrow I have to go back to school and I have homework due, Whatever, I have time in between classes to get it done! It is BUTTCOLD outside and I have not been able to feel my toes all day! I need to use my toe warmers! maybe I will sleep with some tonight to warm up my tootsies!

THE TALK!

Ok so I woke up this morning and still had no idea what I was going to say in my talk for sacrament. My stomach started to feel a little funny, but I knew it was just nerves. So we left for church and got there, and as I sat there on the front row looking out at everyone, I began to think about testimony and how I got one. Then the ideas started to come, and I wrote a couple outlines. Well then it was all downhill from there. The first speaker went way over, then the second, and by that time the rest hymn had been canceled, and the other speakers who had not gone yet and I started to figure we could each have about 1-2 minutes each. Well then I look over and the Bishop mouths to me next week, meaning I would not even be speaking today due to time. Oh my heck, so now I have a whole week to freak out and I have to sit up front again next week! Why me??? Why did I have to be scheduled to speak last?!! Oh well whatever, Now I have a week to come up with a great story, or not. Also maybe I can build up the courage to invite someone to come listen to me speak! I am sure I will chicken out, but a girl can have a dream!

Saturday, January 13, 2007

Tomorrow

Tomorrow I have to give a talk in Sacrament meeting. It is only 5mins long and not a hard topic really, but for some reason I am worrying about it. I am supposed to speak on How I gained my Testimony and how it has effected my life. Simple enough right??? NOT FOR ME!!! I am freaking out about having to speak in front of everyone, which after serving a mission you would think would not be the case. But, for some reason it is harder for me to talk in front of people that I know then to talk to a perfect stranger on the street. I am already preparing myself for the stomach ache that will be coming and the sweaty palms, and the desire to throw-up! Oh my goodness I am so pathetic! I think the bad thing is that this really is not a talk that can be written out and read from and referred to, it is a testimony really. Ok I am not gonna think about it right now, my stomach is starting to feel a little nervous. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow!

Update on Flood!

Alright so first thing this morning the guy came to look at our damage from the flood. He ripped out carpet padding, cut out drywall and put some really loud and annoying fans in my bathroom. I now have to sleep with the light on in my bathroom all weekend and the loud piece of crap fan can not be turned off until MONDAY!!! I am gonna need some ear plugs and a large amount of advil by the end of the weekend! But, at least my bathroom won't be like going to the beach! Alright that is all for now, pictures to come later!

FLOOD!

Tonight I got a phone call from my roommate saying that her vanity was leaking. I was so confused but said to go check my bathroom to see if the water was coming from there. What she found was my bathroom covered in water and water dripping from the ceiling above us. I came home and threw some towels on the ground and rung out my bathrug and Romina's rug. We thought it was from the apartment above us, but come to find out if was from the girls on the third floor. So the entire side of apartments from top to bottom is now flooded. I have no clue how it happened, but I do know that my bathroom is now soaked. So needless to say I did not get to watch any episodes of 24 tonight but I did get to catch some of last night's episode of Grey's! I now will have to wait to catch the 24 fever and just watch on Sunday! Alright well seeing as how I am now home I guess I will do homework! I am adding that to my list of goals for 2007, do homework before the last minute! My body will thank me for the goal, because it will not be kept awake by excedrin migrane and vault! Thank goodness!

FOR SHAME!!!!!

I am kinda embarassed to admit this, but I have not seen more then one or two episodes of 24. My friend called today and said that she and her roommates are going to watch some of season 5 episodes and I am going to go. I am hoping to become a fan, because the episodes I have seen are really good! I am trying to figure out when the show started and if I was on my mission when it did. So yeah I am so excited to go see what the hype is all about! I will report back later and let you know how it goes! I am so super duper excited!

Stupid Idea? I think so!

This picture is from a few days ago, before Tiffy left my ear was killing me and I had a brillant idea to try and make it feel better by lighting a cylinder made of bee's wax on fire and sticking it in my ear. I am happy to report I still have an ear, and all my hair, BUT my ear feels the same. I had companions in Indiana who are believers in the benefits of ear candels, I however am still skeptical. I still have a few more left, so if anyone wants to try just let me know! I am just happy I can still hear, and that I didn't catch myself or the apartment on fire!

Back Together!

Tonight I went to pick up my roommate Romina at the airport! I am so glad she is home! It has been weird being all alone in the apartment the last day or so. Tiffany finally got home this morning at 11:30 only 16hours after she was supposed to be there! I talked to her tonight and she was cursing the name of amtrak, said she would never do it again! hahaha She tried to blame this all on me, but oh hell no I was not letting that happen! So yeah, now Romina is home from Germany and I am super excited! She brought back German Chocolate for me, and now I have to factor the point total for them! Damn WW point system!

Human Popsicle!

Ok so Tiffany left last night at 1am finally! So I guess that actually makes it this morning! What an experience that was, I do not think she will ever want to do the train thing again! We left the house at 12:15am and for some stupid reason I did not put on a sweatshirt before we left. We got there and talk about scary, there was at least 3 different cops that drove by and there was definetly a blanket on the bench where you can wait, no one sleeping but a blanket laid out and a baggy with a bite of tuna sandwich left inside! At one point Tiffy decided she was going to be funny and she tried to chase me with the homeless person's blankie! YUCK!!! I was so frozen by the time the train finally showed up that it was a quick hug and Tiffy was put on the train. Earlier in the night I tried convincing her she didn't need to leave me and even when a few tears where shed, all she did was laugh at me and load her crap in the car. So in light of my popsicle status last night it reminded me of when I for some stupid reason decided to become a human snowperson. I honestly think I was warmer when I was covered in snow then last night! I think I finally defrosted at 2am and went to bed!

Tiffany's Trip!

So for some odd and unknow reason Tiffany decided that she wanted to take the train home instead of flying home this weekend from Vegas! I guess it is good that she would be home earlier because mom is pretty sick I guess, but I was looking for an excuse to make a trip to Vegas to visit Julia! So, anyway back to the train, Tiffany was supposed to be leaving Provo tonight at like 9:30pm, and when she picked me up today she said that her train is delayed until 12:30am! What the hell??? I now have to wake my butt up at the butt crack of midnight and take her to the train station in the ghetto! We drove by the train station yesterday and there was homeless people sleeping inside! Oh man I am so glad it is not me! hahaha Ok that is all!

Eye Opening day!

So today in class we went over that values assignment that I was doing last night (see previous entry). We got into groups and compared how we had ranked things. I was suprised to see that a lot of people had listed family pretty high, but there was a good number of people who put religion in the bottom half and at least 3 or so who put it very last. It made me think as they tried to explain why they ranked it how they did. I thought about religion vs family last night and which was more important, but I have always been taught to put the Lord first and Family second. So.. yeah it is an opinion assignment! Also today it took all that I had to keep my mouth shut (well at least quiet enough that certain people could not hear me) during my first class. There is a guy who will now be called grandpa, who has already finished a couple degrees, and is a retired police officer. He tried to make a point that having a family member die in a hospital is the same as a person fighting the war in Iraq being killed. I finally just zoned out, after like 10minutes of him ranting and raving! I am all for people going to school and education, but sometimes the "moms", "dads", "grandmas", and "grandpas" can become annoying! I can only imagine if my mom was the one in class, I would probably be equally annoyed if not more so. I have been in trainings for work with my mom before and she just kept talking and asking questions! So in light of this new insight, I have decided that I am going to TRY and be more patient with the Moms and Dads and Grandpas! I am going to add it to my list of New Year goals, which I am still working on! Gosh darn it, I will eventually put that list on here. It is only the 9th and all! =)

Long time No blog! Values assignment

Oh my goodness it has been way too long since the last post! My bad! I am going to try and do better, even though at this point I am not super optimistic about it! But, my friend Michelle is my new blog idol, so I am going to try and be cool like her! ;) Tonight was FHE and it was so much fun! Not too much singing this time, well actually only one verse so not too bad at all! We played Family Feud and Tiffany was on the other team, we totally smoked them! hahhaahaha we are so good! Tiffany is leaving tomorrow and I do not like the fact at all! She is taking the train which should be interesting! Tonight we went to Wal*Mart and oh my freaking gosh it was jammed, it took like 30mins to get through the checkout that we were in, we suck at picking the quick lanes! I have already had to do homework and what should have been a quick assignment turned into a long drawn out thing with me Freaking out and Tiffany telling me I'm stupid, and it is my own opinion. BUT... Gosh it was hard, there was a list of 22 different values and we were supposed to rank them in order of importance 1 being the highest level. Here is my list, and just keep in mind it is an opinion thing, and know that I probably switched almost each of them 3 or 4 times, I am pathetic!
Value Exercise
1. Religion
2. Family
3. Friendship
4. Health
5. Autonomy
6. Love
7. Honesty
8. Altruism
9. Creativity
10. Emotional Well- being
11. Loyalty
12. Justice
13. Wisdom
14. Knowledge
15. Wealth
16. Beauty
17. Achievement
18. Pleasure
19. Duty
20. Success
21. Recognition
22. Power
Even now I am rethinking it, but I am DONE and do not care anymore!
