Happy Birthday Claudia!

Yesterday was Claudia's Birthday! I just wanted to wish her a happy birthday a day late! We had dinner tonight at Tucano's and then a bunch of her friends all came over to the house to have a huge party! I am so glad that Claudia is a part of Riverside #40 she is amazing and is truly a huge lifesaver!

Mission Reunion

Last night was the mission reunion! Oh man what an interesting night! I have now been to at least 5 reunions and I have only been home 2 years! I can honestly say that the next Quist reunion I will be attending is when I have some "news" to share! So... I have a feeling it will be a long time! I will attend at least one of the Simmons' reunions, and see how they go! Here is a few pictures from last nights extravagansa!

It is an Honor!

The other night Dad called and said that they had received a letter from my school about some award that I was going to receive. I was kinda shocked by it and really still do not know what to think about the award. As part of being the "outstanding student" I have been invited to sit on the platform during Graduation ceremonies. I was really sad, because I want to walk with my friends for graduation and have the fun times of being with my "groupies". I went by the Dean's office today and I am pretty sure the secretary thinks I am retarded. She just kept saying what an honor it was for a person to receive this award, and how one day I will realize how important this honor is! Yeah Whatever, me and Important do not go in the same paragraph!

Pinewood Derby!

Tonight was the Pinewood Derby! I had no time nor desire to make a car for it, so I borrowed Brad and his wifes cars! I am happy to report that I came in 4th place overall and won an award for fastest girl's car! Candice (brad's wife) can make a really fast car! Jerilyn is showing off "our" cars that we raced! It was so fun! There were some very creative cars and others shapes! Rashae made a sweet Boat, and Heather created a John Deer Tractor!

Tonight was Claudia's first ever time going Visiting Teaching. She is companions with Kimmy and they went out tonight. Claudia was a little nervous, so Romina and I role played Visiting Teaching with her, don't really know if we put her at ease but it was sure funny! She did it though and that is what matters! Claudia you are amazing!

I have a new Best Friend!

Tonight my roommates and I decided to go to cold stone to get ice cream! I was so happy to see that they had added new flavors including Light Cake Batter! Don't really know how it is light but whatever, I felt better about it! I even told the people they were my new best friends before asking for a sample. Next thing you know some nice young man is handing me a spoon that is heaped full of light cake batter ice cream! When I reacted with suprise, Josh informed me that because we were best friends now I deserved it! Haha Yep you got it me and Josh new BFFs!

Today was a pretty okay day! In two of my classes today we just went over some take home tests and suprisingly I actually did ok. Then I left class early to get the flyers made up and to beat the storm as much as I could to get them out. Kimberly was so nice to offer to help and even though I did everything I could to stop her from helping I somehow finally gave in! She would not take no for an answer! She is such a great friend! Thanks for braving the crappy weather and helping me! Welcome Back Winter! Make it quick!

So after enjoying nice spring weather for the last little while Winter is ready to attack again. I am glad I still have a hoodie out. Good news is that the storm will be gone by weekend, Bad news is there is supposed to be snow, and I have to go out in it and put stinking flyers out! =( Dang flyers, but WHATEVER gotta magnify my calling! Ok I am done complaining now, got to get ready to leave for class!

I MAY BE GRADUATING WITH HONORS... BUT I AM STILL STUPID!

I just got home from taking my Astronomy midterms, and well I think the title of this blog explains it all! Thanks to Romina for the title idea. ;) I would have gone with I am stupid, but she reminded me that I am graduating with honors, so the title was born! I took a midterm and a constellation quiz this afternoon. I am pretty sure I will get 0/52 on the constellation quiz, but maybe randomly filling in letters will work and I will get 1 right! It took everything I had in me not to breakdown and cry when I looked at the maps that I had never seen before that I was supposed to match constellations with name. DUMB ME! Then after that I received the print out from my scantron, yeah I am really dumb! Looks like I will be paying to retake the test! Hopefully I will get half of the questions right next time! I had a good cry on the way home well talking to my mom! She has a lot more faith in me then I have in myself! Her funniest advice was telling me about 15 times I needed to go buy M&M's because the SUGAR makes your brain work better! I really think she was just trying to give me an excuse to eat a large amount of M&M's and so in honor of Mom anyone who wants M&M's can come over! So this was a long blog, and now I am going to go buy some M&M's! Talk about disturbing check out the picture I found! Humm.. Mom did say it will help your brain! Just Kiddin mommy!

Eggs in BULK!

So for the ward activity today I was in charge of scrambling eggs for the breakfast burritos. Yeah I have gone from Publicity to being a professional egg scrambler. Lets just say I do not want to scramble eggs again for a very long time! I may never scramble another egg. In total I scrambled 72 eggs! So take the picture below and multiply that by 8 pans and that is what I did!

Big Shopping Day!

Jerilyn and her sister Trisha were going to Park City today so I tagged along for the fun! It was a successful trip for all! I got a bunch of new tshirts from Gap and Old Navy and a couple pairs of flip flops! I had so much fun! Thanks for inviting me guys!

Happy Birthday (one Day Late)!

The other day I was sitting in class and realized that Gage's birthday was comming up. I for some reason thought it was the 21st so when I was talking to Tiffy I mentioned that I would call and wish him a happy birthday that night. Come to find out Gage was actually born March 22nd! So needless to say I was almost a day early and now I am a day late! I am a slaker! However, in my own defense I was on my mission when Gage was born and Tiffany was late delievering him So... even though my excuses are not good, I am sticking by them! None the less Happy 3rd Birthday Gage! Sorry I can't be there for Chuck E. Cheese! He is one scary Mouse! Enjoy Your Cake!!!

Oh To Be Young Again!!

Tonight when I got home from looking at the stars Romina and Claudia were watching Youtube videos. Next thing you know we are watching old school cartoons from when we were kids! Oh so much fun! How I miss the days of Popples, Gummy Bears, Fraggle Rock and well the list is way too long! There was even an glimpse of an episode of Small Wonder! Oh the Memories! So in honor of my Roomates I have included a video of one of my favorites!

One Step Closer!

Today was the graduation fair where we had to order caps and gowns for graduation! As I was filling out the paper work it kinda hit me that I really am graduating next month! Oh crap what is next? Tonight Dad called to say hi and see how I was and then the conversation turned to what I was going to do next! I did my best to not let on to how freaked out I am about the whole thing! I am excited to see my family more than anything! It has been way too long! The whole famdamiily (I made it up deal) is coming out for graduation! It is going to be crazy! But a GOOD Crazy!

Tonight Romina and Claudia were introduced to B'loonies! These pretty much made my last 3 months of my mission enjoyable! Nothing beats blowing bubbles of smelly stuff! Gotta be careful though the fumes can make you a tad high! Romina's Bowtie that we all combined to make!

I WANT TO GO HOME!!!

I want to go home to California so much! I miss being home, I miss my family and I want to go take care of my Rella Bella! Marela is pretty sick and it is times like this that I question why I am not home. I know there is nothing I can do, but being out of the loop is NOT FUN!

Productive Day!

Today has been an extra day of Spring Break! All my classes where cancelled for the day so I have been able to accomplish quite a bit! Got the oil changed at Wal*Mart, watched the Holiday and worked on some Astronomy papers! Plus it is still early! There is more that can be accomplished!

Almost Done!!

I have finished the 9 Speedback assignments for astronomy and I am pretty happy with the B that I have averaged on them! I am not so happy that I recently found out their is 4 papers that I have to do about "Sharing my Knowledge" with my family or friends! Anyone want to let me share my knowledge with them? I doubt anyone wants to be put through that misery, so I am going to pretend like I shared my knowledge and BS my way through the papers. I have requested the Midterm and will probably be taking it and the final next week! Heck I only need a C-, I am not aiming too high on this one! C= Commencment and Convocation!

Humm... I wonder?

Do classrooms make people sleepy? Lately in a few of my classes at school people have been catching up on their sleep! It always seems to be the same kids, and I am pretty sure one of them snores in class at least once a week. Today in Sunday School I looked over to notice that a few people were "resting their eyes". Which led me to ponder the idea that being in a classroom automatically brings on the desire to sleep? I may have to ask the snorer in my class, that is if he stays awake long enough for me to talk to him.

Want to go to our "Special Spot"

I am happy to report that the goal of swinging at the park has been accomplished! There was a picnic at the park complete with a nice sunburn that will hopefully tan over soon! Jerilyn and I ventured out to find a park to swing and after much trauma found OUR SPOT! We found the best swings at an elementary school close to our apartments! The only downfall to our spot was the couple not too far away who were getting a little to comfortable under their blanket! We even got to play some basketball and got a nice orange bat as a going away gift! Towards the end of our park visit their was a lady digging in the newspaper dumpster, I think she needed a previous issue of the Deseret News! I hope she found what she was looking for!

p.s. Obviously this is not the park that we found seeing as how it is surrounded by Corn fields, Pretty sure this is a park in Indiana that I used to play at.

Success!

This afternoon I went to get the pedicure that my feet so needed! I am just checking the goals of spring break off! I am glad this one was accomplished because it has for sure been flip flop weather and now I am ready for it!

Astronomy Issues!

I had high hopes tonight of doing astronomy all night long! Well I am dumb and when I went to buy new cartridges for my printer I bought the wrong one. Now I am going to have to do it all tomorrow night! WHATEVER!! How was I supposed to know that the freaking printer is very particular about the type of cartridge it will accept! Short of me running out to walmart and getting the right one at midnight I am going to be delayed in my goal of having all things astronomy out of my life by Tuesday morning! I know I can still bust out the remaining 8 assignments quickly so I am not too concerned! Humm.. I wonder if Costco takes returns on packages I shredded to get open?? We shall see! Tomorrow I am headed up to Salt Lake to take Carrie to her school! I am excited!!!

Almost Spring Break!!

Tomorrow is the official start of my "Spring Break"! I am in the process of finishing a paper that I have had all week to do, but procrastinated until now! Yep procrastination is my middle name! As soon as the paper is done I am off to bed! I am sad to say that Spring Break this year will consist of me doing Astronomy and trying to complete it by the end of spring break! I am sad that I don't get to go home, or heck anywhere for that matter! I am thinking of making a trip to Alpine and sleeping in my basement suite! We shall see! Gotta call for reservations! ;) Here are the Goals (dreams) for Spring Break!! They are in no particular order!
1. Rearrange and Clean my room!
2. Do at least all 9 of the speedback assignments for Astronomy and study for mid-term!
3. Go to the gym everyday or at least go running outside
4. Watch the Holiday DVD as much as possible!
5. Sleep In!! No setting alarm!
6. Go to the park and swing!
7. Scrapbook at least a few pages (5 or more)
8. Get a pedicure
9. Clean out my closets -->(in room and Kitchen!)
10. HAVE FUN!!!!

One Step Closer

The presentation is over! I am one step closer to spring break! One step closer to the end of this semester and one step closer to graduation!!!

Happy 4th Birthday!!!

Today is my niece Marela's 4th birthday! In the history of her birthdays I have only been home for her one. I missed her birth due to being on vacation in Hawaii, I was on my mission for the first birthday and now I have been in Utah for her 3rd and 4th! One of these days I am going to make it home for all the kiddies birthdays! I sadly forgot to post a blog on Tanner's 2nd birthday, but I did make a call. Marela is my favorite niece (she's the only one)!! She is funny, sweet, and loves to play with me when I am home! She has been my travel buddy to many places and even paid me a visit to Utah last month! I love her hugs and kisses and when she laughs! I am so glad that she is my Marelabella!

Party of the Century!

Michelle's Birthday party tonight was full of fun! There was a how well do you know Michelle quiz, which Poncho won fair and square (with a little help from yours truly)! There was an ice cream cake and really good spinach dip! There were pictures, presents and lots of laughs! Oh and there was a visit from a friendly Provo Police Officer! Yep you got it Michelle's neighbor thought someone was getting beat up so he called the cops! What a nice neighbor to care so much to call! ;) The officer was friendly and said that he would notify the neighbor that there was no fight just a party! Michelle was so polite she even offered him cake, which he turned down because he was "on duty"! Yeah that and he had some doughnuts in his squad car! It was by far the most random thing ever! So yeah Michelle will never forget the time the cops got called on her birthday! Kimberly even said that she thought I had something to do with it! If I had that kind of pull in the community I would not be freaking out about life after graduation! More pictures and a movie or two will be coming tomorrow!

Happy Birthday Michelle! Today is Michelle's BIG birthday that she has been counting down to and tonight is the party of the century! Michelle is amazing! She is smart, funny, caring, and a fantastic friend! She likes to drink frozen "punch" and encourages me to do things like asking people out on dates and training for the 1/2 marathon! She is my blog idol, 1/2 marathon professional, and she even stuck her tounge on icicles with me! Michelle thank you for being my friend! I am grateful for everything you do!

Translation Problem?

Tonight at dinner we had soup. After the soup Romina announced she didn't know if she could eat anything else because she had "Drank too much soup"!??! This led to a conversation about whether a person eats soup or drinks soup. A phone call was placed and I am up 1 to nothing in the eating soup. Polls are now open as to this issue! I personally think that it is a translation issue from spanish to english.

Dream come true! (Almost)

Today there was a Teacher Job Faire at BYU and Carrie wanted to go and talk to a couple of the districts. I didn't have class until this afternoon so I helped her get ready and then took her over. I dropped her off and then parked the car and met her outside the ballroom at the wilk. While Carrie was interviewing with one of the districts I went and people watched in the hallway. I am glad that I did because none other then B MONEY walked down the hall. Oh my goodness I was so excited! Too bad he was talking to someone and I didn't want to butt in so I didn't get an autograph or anything! He was wearing a money print bandana and everything! I am for sure going to be spending more time at the Wilk!!

Close Call!

Monday night was combined FHE Cinco de Marcho celebration. It was pretty fun. There was a salsa making contest, salsa dancing, and a pinata complete with a 2x4 to hit with! You would think the danger would be in the pinata beating, but not this time! The following video is the close call of the night! Kimberly was a good sport and danced for awhile and then the "Dip of Death" ended her dancing for the night! Luckily no one was injured!

Just Like Football!!!!

Tonight I went with Jerilyn, Jason and Mandy (Jerilyn's SLC friends) to the BYU vs UofU basketball game! Oh what a fun night it was! We had a great meal before hand and then headed to the game. Found a good parking sport after some positive thinking and found our seats. The game was great even if it was a blowout. Towards the end of the game the chants from the student section got pretty funny, and even better when misunderstood. You got swatted turned into you got slaughtered. ;) But our favorite of the night was the endless chant of JUST LIKE FOOTBALL! Oh yeah good times! Thanks for inviting me Jerilyn!

Life Reminders!

Recently I have been reminded of how small my problems are compared to what they could be! A friend of mine from High School who was serving in Iraq was killed recently while going to render aid to some injured soldiers. Then this morning I got a phone call from my best friend Carrie saying she had been in a car accident. I don't think I really understood the extent of the accident. Carrie made it seem like everything was fine and that her knee cap had popped out of place and that they were just running tests on her. I had class at 1 but it only lasted 20mins so I called Daniel to see if I could bring him some lunch and found out she had actually broken her knee cap (aka Patella). I got Daniel some lunch and then sat with Carrie while he ran home to get some stuff. It was so hard to see her in so much pain, but it was even worse after she had surgery and I just wanted to make it all go away! I am so glad that she is going to be ok! It could have been worse but she was wearing her seatbelt and was lucky! I don't know what I would do with out her! Carrie I hope that you get well really soon! Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help you guys! So needless to say that me complaining about school and classes is going to be at a minimum because really how important is that compared to other things?!!
