What was I thinking!!???

So the ward had a dinner/activity on Saturday night at Aspen Grove up in the canyon. I debated about going but finally decided it would be good to support the ward, and Krishna is on the activity committee and I felt bad making her go alone. So we get there and they luckily serve something other than red meat (which made me very happy since last time, I went there for a dinner I couldn't eat red meat for like 6 months after!) So after the meal they start the "activity". It begins with the bishop and his wife telling the story of how they met, fell in love and got married. GAG! Then they announce that we will be playing "Singled Out". Now growing up in my teen years I watched some episodes of this game on MTV and compared to the rest of my ward, who don't even know what MTV is I am a pro. (Or so I thought!) The game begins and the guy they brought in for the game is my roommates ex boyfriend! Realizing that it would not be a good idea for me to go out with him I decide I will "throw" the game. The questions start and I decide it is too obvious to leave on the first question, so I answer that how I think he would answer. Right answer and I am still in the game. Then from there my plan was to answer opposite as I thought he would. 3 questions later it is down to 5 girls and somehow I am contestant number 4. So the individual questions begin. #1 Sing me your favorite love song (which btw only one of us would do and she sang every one's songs. #2. What would be your ideal date including me: The losing answer was hiking. My answer.... "Ummmm go to a movie and play mario kart" <-- I was going for the I'm lame and don't like to talk. Dang still in the game. #3. If you were a dessert what would you be and why? The losing answer Apple Pie. My answer "I would be a fudge brownie with nuts because I am crazy." Ummm yeah got that right crazy for still being involved in this lame game. Finally question #4. If you met me on the street give me your best pick up line: I knew I was in trouble at this point since I know only 1 pick up line thanks to Jerilyn. So contestant 1 goes and comes up with " Are you from Tennessee? Cause you're the only 10 I see!" OK so maybe I am going to lose! So then comes my turn and I drop "Are those space pants you're wearing? Because your bum is out of this world!" Oh man the bishop covered his face and I just started praying he really liked Tennessee. NOPE Despite all my efforts I won the game. So Monday at 7pm I will be enjoying Brick Oven with Derek. yippee! ;) Moral of this story: Next time make it obvious and leave on question 1. No need to be cocky and think I know the ins and outs of dating game shows since I obviously do not.

Bonfire Fun and Tire Drama

Last night a few friends from the ward decided to go up to the canyon and have a bonfire. I had no other plans so I decided to go ahead and go up with Jun. We got a tad lost and then luckily I still had cell phone service and Jennifer and Becky came out and we followed them back up. We went hiking into the canyon and found an open spot and started our fire. Then some psycho guy who was sleeping in a tent freaked out and told us to move somewhere else. We had a great fire going at that point too! So we put the fire out and headed back to the parking lot. We met up with some other people from the ward and then went and were able to find an open spot at a different part of the canyon. It was a ton of fun and good memories! We noticed that Becky's tire had picked up a nice sized Bolt head. She started to drive down the canyon on it but it popped out and the tire went completly flat just before Vivian Park so we changed the tire on the side of the road, luckily Brandon came up so he was able to supervise and teach us all what to do. Rashae learned how to hold the flash light;) Jana did most of the jacking up of the car.

Another one bites the dust... Literally

Another softball game has come and gone and we are still winless! I don't even know what the score was this time, but probably like 100-3. The game tonight took a scary turn when Jun went down while running for first base! Following the game there was a reenactment of the incident! Luckily she only ended up with a small black eye and a case of whiplash. One of the other team members took a couple ground balls to the face but she is a beast and it didn't seem to phase her much! Last softball game is tonight! I am just hoping that enough people show up that I don't have to play and that maybe we will come away with a win! A girl can dream! I am looking forward to tonights game because the "BABES" tshirt is making its debut! Oh yes!

"Sports" Night

Last night was ward sports night. After 1 inning of Kickball and 2 games of "Down by the banks" we decided we were done with the "sports". Instead we walked over and tried to visit Bishop Roberts, he wasn't home so instead we popped in and said hello to the Thayers! Oh my goodness they are perfect for each other! After loading up on way too many Tootsie Rolls we noticed that the Bishop had come home. So we went over to say hello, and ended up sitting on the back porch with Sister Roberts and Bishop and laughing and telling stories. Oh and maybe there was some Creamies involved! It was a really great night!

Great End to April!

I had an amazing chance this morning to go to the temple with Kimmy and Katie! I was a little worried because the session started at 7 so Kimmy was picking us up at 6:30! Yikes! I was pleasantly supprised by the fact that I was actually awake and not tired at all at 5:15am! Heck I really could have been doing the morning runs all this time! I had a whole day ahead of me after too! I went to the gym, hung out with Marissa bought the much dreded LSAT books and had an overall great day! Heck I even did some service tonight and picked up trash along the road for FHE! Then after FHE I visited my good friends Jerilyn and Megan! It was fun to visit! This is Megan super excited to go to the Movies with a special someone! Very nice Megan! It was a good end to the month! I can not wait to see what is in store for May! Should be exciting!

Pinewood Derby!

Tonight was the Pinewood Derby! I had no time nor desire to make a car for it, so I borrowed Brad and his wifes cars! I am happy to report that I came in 4th place overall and won an award for fastest girl's car! Candice (brad's wife) can make a really fast car! Jerilyn is showing off "our" cars that we raced! It was so fun! There were some very creative cars and others shapes! Rashae made a sweet Boat, and Heather created a John Deer Tractor!

Congratulations Claudia!

Tonight was Claudia's first ever time going Visiting Teaching. She is companions with Kimmy and they went out tonight. Claudia was a little nervous, so Romina and I role played Visiting Teaching with her, don't really know if we put her at ease but it was sure funny! She did it though and that is what matters! Claudia you are amazing!

Eggs in BULK!

So for the ward activity today I was in charge of scrambling eggs for the breakfast burritos. Yeah I have gone from Publicity to being a professional egg scrambler. Lets just say I do not want to scramble eggs again for a very long time! I may never scramble another egg. In total I scrambled 72 eggs! So take the picture below and multiply that by 8 pans and that is what I did!

Close Call!

Monday night was combined FHE Cinco de Marcho celebration. It was pretty fun. There was a salsa making contest, salsa dancing, and a pinata complete with a 2x4 to hit with! You would think the danger would be in the pinata beating, but not this time! The following video is the close call of the night! Kimberly was a good sport and danced for awhile and then the "Dip of Death" ended her dancing for the night! Luckily no one was injured!

My New "Family"

Alright so FHE groups switched quite awhile ago, but before tonight I had not attended since I was put into the FHE "foster care system". Tonight I decided it was time to at least attend my new family so that I can say I went. Our group is okay, we only had like 12 people there, and I am pretty sure at least 2 of them aren't even in the ward. Also we had 1 guy and he is our "Dad" umm yeah there will be no marketing going on in the new group. We had a good lesson, sang not one note of a hymn and played 2 games. I am still not sure how I feel about the new group but I will make an effort to deal with it, or I will have some extra time for homework on Monday nights! ;)

Box-Out Demostration

Here is Jerilyn and Megan demonstrating the proper technique for boxing out!

Dangerous Sport and randomness

The chili cook off and broom hockey was a lot of fun! Jerilyn really enjoyed the frozen punch that had been sitting on Michelle and Kimberly's front porch for a couple days!

Broom hockey can be a dangerous sport, there was a time when I thought maybe someone was going to loose their head or legs, blood was even drawn and brooms were broken. Look at the form that we all have, man I should become a professional. No worries I think the ball had just left my broom for a score ;)

After the game was over we all picked up the broom fragments so as to not clog the vaccum. After the collecting was done Jerilyn and I decided what better thing to do then smoke the "weeds", no worries they did not touch our mouths. We know what a broom is used for unlike one of the guys who stuck a piece straight from the floor into his mouth like a piece of straw! YUCK!!!

Box out and other basketball fun

On Thursday night there was a sports enrichment night, we learned about basketball and well it was a very interesting night! One of the girls in the ward taught the class and well she umm knows her stuff. I am so excited to sit at home and watch basketball all day and night now! ;) Funny thing is that Friday night was the broom-hockey and chili cook-off, and Jerilyn showed the proper technique for boxing out. Stick your butt out and use your God given gift. There is a video of her demonstrating which will be posted very soon! BUT, until then here are a few pictures of the proper way to box out!

You are important

Alright so today was interesting! I had class and then after went to Fed-ex kinkos to make some copies of a flyer for a ward activity this Friday. Then tonight Kimberly came over to help me pass them all out. We were able to delegate some of the other apartment buildings to a couple of guys in the ward. I will be baking each of them some cookies now! Kim was so nice to help me tape them to all the doors, even in the 14* weather! I owe her big time maybe some cookies made with splenda??!!! Humm, I will have to think about that one. It was really cold, BUT no worries I actually wore my winter coat tonight, mainly because I knew it was gonna be buttcold and I had just gone to the gym so I didn't want to freeze from the sweat. ;) While we were passing them out Kim ran into one of the guys in the ward whose name she got, and then he says, "yeah your name is Kim right? I remember you because you are pretty important in the ward!" Yep, that is right she is pretty important in the ward. It is the Bishop then Kimberly! ;) Oh man she is so cool! I am so glad she is my friend! So yeah, the flyers are all out and hopefully it will be a good turnout for the chili cook-off and broom hockey on Friday night! I sure am excited! An update on the running, I did a 1 1/2 on the treadmill tonight, actually was not too bad, but I think I like running the track better.

THE TALK!

Ok so I woke up this morning and still had no idea what I was going to say in my talk for sacrament. My stomach started to feel a little funny, but I knew it was just nerves. So we left for church and got there, and as I sat there on the front row looking out at everyone, I began to think about testimony and how I got one. Then the ideas started to come, and I wrote a couple outlines. Well then it was all downhill from there. The first speaker went way over, then the second, and by that time the rest hymn had been canceled, and the other speakers who had not gone yet and I started to figure we could each have about 1-2 minutes each. Well then I look over and the Bishop mouths to me next week, meaning I would not even be speaking today due to time. Oh my heck, so now I have a whole week to freak out and I have to sit up front again next week! Why me??? Why did I have to be scheduled to speak last?!! Oh well whatever, Now I have a week to come up with a great story, or not. Also maybe I can build up the courage to invite someone to come listen to me speak! I am sure I will chicken out, but a girl can have a dream!

Tomorrow

Tomorrow I have to give a talk in Sacrament meeting. It is only 5mins long and not a hard topic really, but for some reason I am worrying about it. I am supposed to speak on How I gained my Testimony and how it has effected my life. Simple enough right??? NOT FOR ME!!! I am freaking out about having to speak in front of everyone, which after serving a mission you would think would not be the case. But, for some reason it is harder for me to talk in front of people that I know then to talk to a perfect stranger on the street. I am already preparing myself for the stomach ache that will be coming and the sweaty palms, and the desire to throw-up! Oh my goodness I am so pathetic! I think the bad thing is that this really is not a talk that can be written out and read from and referred to, it is a testimony really. Ok I am not gonna think about it right now, my stomach is starting to feel a little nervous. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow!
